Therefore, brothers and sisters, holy partners in a heavenly calling, consider that Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses also ‘was faithful in all God’s house.’ Yet Jesus is worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder of a house has more honour than the house itself. (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that would be spoken later. Christ, however, was faithful over God’s house as a son, and we are his house if we hold firm the confidence and the pride that belong to hope.

Hebrews 3:1-6

This week in our service, we will take a look at houses. Not just houses, but homes.  4 walls and a roof make a house, but a home is so much more. We welcome guest speaker – Gary Lees, Interim CEO, from the Kingston branch of Habitat for Humanity, to talk to us about the work they are doing here in the city. There are many people in our communities who live in sub-standard housing, and for whom safe, decent, affordable housing is financially out of reach, or simply unavailable. Habitat for Humanity addresses this issue by providing places for people to live. But more importantly, they involve future homeowners in the building process and empower them to create a foundation – a home – from where they have the opportunity to pursue their dreams and contribute to our community.
